Neighborhood Connection’s programs and services are provided to neighbors in need at no cost to them. We rely on the generosity of individuals, businesses, and organizations to provide the financial and in-kind investment that make these programs possible. We invite you to make a single contribution, become a monthly or legacy donor, or support our organization in one of the many unique ways listed below. Neighborhood Connection is a 501(c)(3) exempt organization and your donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Your financial investment in the strength of our community with a gift to Neighborhood Connection may be designated to one of three funds:
- Annual Fund – unrestricted gifts for programs and operations
- Scholarship Fund
- Neighbor to Neighbor Fund
Increase your gift through your employer’s Matching Gifts Program. Some companies given employees the opportunity to increase the impact of their financial contributions to nonprofit organizations by matching the gift with company funds or corporate foundation monies, often doubling or tripling employee’s gifts. Check with your human resources department about your employer’s matching gifts program.
Join the Storytellers Club by signing up for monthly giving. You can do so by choosing “make this a monthly gift” on our PayPal giving page to give via bank account or credit card, setting up a recurring monthly payment via check using your own online banking, or mail us a check monthly. Spearheaded by former board member Tom O’Rourke and Neighborhood Connection supporter Tarek Saleh, our Scholarship Fund is aimed at empowering students to achieve their educational goals while encouraging continued service in the Waunakee community.
Neighborhood Connection awards up to two scholarships annually to an applicant that meets the criteria to further their formal education in an accredited institution of higher learning. The scholarship awarded by Neighborhood Connection is for a minimum of $500.00 per year for up to four consecutive years, with payments made directly to the educational institution.
Empower a Waunakee student by donating to Neighborhood Connection’s Scholarship Fund. Be sure to note this fund designation when making your contribution.
Imagine having your furnace go out during a winter cold snap and not having the financial resources to repair it or a place to stay until it is repaired. Imagine having a loved one suffer a massive heart attack and be hospitalized for several weeks in Madison, but not having reliable transportation to get there to visit her. Imagine having to relocate to a new home quickly due to a tragedy occurring in your apartment building. We don’t need to imagine these, as they are all unfortunate situations that neighbors in Waunakee experienced this past year.
So that we, as a community, can better respond to family crises such as these, Waunakee Community Bank and Waunakee Neighborhood Connection have partnered to create the “Neighbor to Neighbor Family Crisis Program.” In the wake of these, and other, events and seeing their impact on families in our community, the need for a localized fund and volunteer response team to assist families both financially and emotionally in the middle of an emergency is apparent now more than ever before.
The Neighbor-to-Neighbor fund covers some, or all, of the immediate expenses a family is subject to and, most importantly, the funds will be deployed within a 24-hour period…during the time that those families need access to money the most. A team of specially trained volunteers will then help the family to coordinate the services they may need as they respond to and recover from the crisis.
Neighborhood Connection takes donations of new and gently used items, especially household items; clothing; toiletries; birthday and Christmas gifts for adults, teens, and children; furniture, vehicles; and more. See our donation guidelines for specifics items we can and cannot take.
Professional Services can also be donated to Neighborhood Connection and are tax-deductible. If you own a business or would like to donate your professional hours of service to Neighborhood Connection, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to connect about opportunities to partner.
